Start and shutdown

You can start up or shut down your instance clicking the Power button. Once you click the Power button a dropdown menu will appear displaying several options Start, Stop, Restart and, only for postgresql instances Reload. Click the Start option to start the instance and the Stop option to stop it. Restart will perform a stop and a start. Reload will only reload the configuration of the instance, without stopping the instance.

The state of the instance will change according to the result of the specific job carried out (if startup fails the instance will be stopped and viceversa).

Usually stopping an instance takes a few seconds. On the other hand starting an instance takes a few minutes (usually about 2 if no crash recovery is involved), but this time may vary greatly depending on your database characteristics and activities, and may go well over tens of minutes for high activity, high number of schemas databases.
